Valentine's Day at Lincoln School

February 14 is quickly approaching and of course, things this year will continue to be a little different.  Our plan is to hold off on the candy and packaged Valentines, and below are details for the week.

During the week of February 14 - 17, our Positivity Project (P2) activities will be focused on "Love."  Love means that you value close relationships with others and being close to people. The character strength of love represents the way we think, feel, and behave towards the people with whom we have close relationships.

Classes will have activities and lessons in their morning meetings that will take the place of the traditional card exchange and parties.  No need to send anything in from home, we will handle it all in-house.

If you want to look ahead at family activities and connections for that week, remember you can access the P2 for Families at https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/  The password is P2.

Young Fives will be making Valentine cards for residents at an assisted living center!

Ask My Child About: (below are some fun things to ask your child about!)

  • GrapeSEED songs: “Let’s Spin Around” & “Count & Shout!”

  • GrapeSEED stories: We Love School!

  • GrapeSEED poem: “Yes it Is!”

  • GrapeSEED letter focus: c, e, n, x

  • Answering questions using a sentence and counting the number of words that create the sentence.

  • Identifying the difference between uppercase and lowercase letters

  • Handwriting - Frog jump letter: uppercase letter F!

  • Math -

    • Number Review: recognizing numbers 0-12 and focusing on teen numbers

    • 10-frames and adding another 10-frame to make a teen number

  • Fine Motor -

    • Using scissors and glue to make an alphabet book!

  • SEL (Social Emotional Learning) -

    • Miss V came in and reviewed emotions: happy, sad, and angry and then discussed the nervous emotion - students shared some times when they felt nervous - example: the first day of school and talked about if they still feel nervous about coming to school and how emotions change with experiences they have, along with knowing what is expected in the environments that they are in.

  • Centers

    • Which one did you like the best?

    • Which center did you play in today?

    • What did you play with?

    • Who did you play with?

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Abby Schmidt
